About the client

The premium supermarket chain comprises more than 170 locations, including supermarkets, mini markets, wine shops, family hypermarkets, online stores, and city cafés. Its assortment includes over 18,000 items sourced from 900 suppliers across 70 countries.

Client’s case

We developed and launched a gamification project using AI scanner mechanics. The goal was to create a personal mobile gallery, where users collect masterpieces and gradually unlock new paintings.

The journey starts with selecting a museum guide from three character options. To unlock an image, users open the supermarket’s app and scan stickers using the AI-powered scanner. Once recognized, the artwork is added to their gallery, opening access to a detailed page with information about the painting and a promo code for supermarket products inspired by the collection.

Next, the app invites users to play a mini-game, where they catch the right items while avoiding incorrect ones. Players earn points that can be exchanged for supermarket discounts. The results are recorded on a leaderboard, and a game shop allows players to upgrade their experience by purchasing extra lives, invincibility, and double coins.

To power the AI scanner, we integrated MindAR, an open-source library. We developed 17 unique tracking projects, combining them into a unified system for real-time image recognition within the app.
